Launch and growth of National Digital Library of India (NDLI)App:
This app was launched as a pilot project in the month of May 2016. After its pilot version it has been developed and in 2017, NDL hosts 7,203,195 items in the repository with over 150,000 volumes in English. It was the mission of Ministry of Human Resource Development under one of its Educational development named as National Mission through Information and Communication Technology.
The main aim of this app NDL is to develop a framework of a virtual repository of learning resources in a single window search facility. The main reason for developing this app is to hold the content of different languages and provide a particular interface for leading vernacular languages. The app has segregated the content in different sub windows which make it easy to search the required information in academic levels. It includes different researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular form of access devices and differently-abled learners.

Using National Digital Library of Indian ( NDLI )App:
The main way of accessing is one by logging in and other by the normal guest user. The disadvantage of being a guest user is, we cannot access the full content in it. To register into this, we are provided to login into by giving our details like name, e mail id, create a password, current institution, the role of the person, and then you have a security question and by entering the correct digits or alphabets you can create your login.
Once, you are done with the login you would be directed to the homepage of the app. After getting directed you can find options like technology, natural sciences, and social sciences in the sector of the domain.
We have four ways of searching like by type, by source, by learning type, and by subject.
In the sector of the type, we have text, audio, video, images, animation, simulation, presentation, application. After selecting the particular options, results are shown and we can choose the one which is required. Once, you click the particular one we can either open it using the browser or download a file.
The next way of searching is by source; in this, we have options like IIT JEE, GATE, Spoken Tutorial, NPTEL, NCERT, South Asia Archive, OECD library, Librivox, and many other options. We can select one and get the required information.
The other option is by subject. In this option, we have level wise searching so in level one we have different subjects, and in that, we have sub topics so those can be given to level two and then the third level for more depth in the subject.
The last option is to search by learning resource. In this, we have a book, question paper, article, video language, and thesis. So, these are the searching options and we have many other news and events in this.
