Nextbit Robin is the new smartphone and indeed the first smartphone launched by the company Nextbit. This San Francisco based company manufactured Nextbit Robin Smartphone through crowdfunding. One interesting thing about Nextbit is, just within twelve hours of launching the crowdfunding the company reached $500,000. So this shows the potential and trust on Nextbit.
What’s special about Nextbit Robin Smartphone?
Well the company Nextbit wanted a smartphone where users do not regret for short of storage space. So Nextbit’s solution to this is offering 100GB of cloud storage where users can automatically transfer and get back their content from the cloud seamlessly. So this is the unique feature about Nextbit Robin and the company markets this phone with a tagline as “Cloud First”.
In US, Nextbit launched this smartphone in August 2015, and since then it was highly anticipated in India. So finally in May 2016, the company launched the smartphone in India for an attractive price of Rs 19,999. During the launch of the smartphone according to Tom Moss, CEO and Co-Founder Nextbit, India is second largest smartphone market in the world and hence it’s hard to ignore. He also said that Robin’s premium design performance, fast OS updates, Unique storage will definitely suite for such a huge market of India.
Nextbit Robin features 5.2 inch IPS Full Hd display with Gorilla Corning Glass 4 protection and has a pixel density of 424 ppi. Under the hood has 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa core processor with GPU of Adreno 418. This phone comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory and also of 100GB Cloud Storage. One disappointing point is it’s a single Nano SIM, GSM phone capable of supporting 4G. It runs on Android Lollipop v5.1.1 and weighs 150 grams. The camera seems to be pretty good as it has Primary camera with 13MP, Autofocus, Dual Led Flash and HDR while the secondary camera comes with 5MP. The battery capacity is also at the shorter side with 2680mAh Li-Ion non removable. The smartphone supports Quick charge v2.0 and has good connectivity features like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS, NFC. Other highlights of this phone are Fingerprint sensor, Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor and Accelerometer.
The specialty of this smartphone is apps get stored in the cloud automatically based on the usage. Say a user installed an app but have not used it for quite sometime, then Robin recognises this and send it to the cloud. And when the user want it back, can get it from the cloud. The sync between the smartphone and the cloud is done when the phone is plugged-in or connected to Wi-Fi, and this will not drain the battery much. The smartphone also senses the storage space available and when it is limited, the phone will automatically send the least needed photos and apps to the cloud and creates space of the user. In this manner user will be never short of storage space. The smartphone is available on Flipkart.
